They say humans are strong beyond measure. I say we measure how strong we really are. No one in this world but ourselves control our own ability. We are the only ones who know what we can and cannot do. But sometimes in this life we drift away from the fact that we can be as strong as we choose to be and we fail to realize it. How we take experiences and learn from them define how strong we will ultimately become. Life is but a learning experience and we must overcome such adversity in life by motivating ourselves to extract valuable lessons from experiences. At first one will not be able to extract these lessons but with time will one not only be able to extract these lessons but understand the subliminal messages they convey. We must not dwell on the past, when one experience is not pleasing we must move on from that experience and go on to brighter adventures. We must never move backwards, only forwards. Just because one experience seemed so pleasuring, we must not move back. Moving forward will lead to new experiences that summon a better outcome. It will be hard but it only takes just one thing to enter our lives and show us that we must move forward; that the future is bright. It’s just like the weather, in your city it may currently be cloudy, in another city across the world, it may be sunny. The sun will eventually come. I came across a quote the other day, “Happiness does not come from doing easy work but from the afterglow of satisfaction that comes after the achievement of a difficult task that demanded our best” – Theodore Isaac Rubin. No matter how hard we tried in one experience and did not achieve happiness, we must know that it was not to be present within the experience; happiness is to be present after the experience as we learn from the experience and move on. “Experience is not what happens to you, it’s what you do with what happens to you” – Aldous Huxley. As humans we constantly strive to get better we do not like to maintain the same ability, we like to flourish it. Learning how to write, we became better and better. We did not maintain the same language skills from age 4; we learned from experience. We are at such a young age, no experience should be our last. If one experience didn’t pan out we must not worry. It will only get better, but we must believe in this. We cannot do anything about the length of our life, but we can do something about its width and depth. We control how far we go in life and how much knowledge we learn. But sometimes we dwell too much on the past and we are too scared to move on. We do not realize how little we benefited from previous experiences; we only focus on what our mind wants to keep. We must take a chance and let go; we must realize that we deserve better. Walter Anderson once said, “Our lives improve only when we take chances, and the first and most difficult risk we can take is to be honest with ourselves.” Sometimes we love something so much, that we are afraid to let it go even when we know it’s time to let go. But letting go itself is an ability, one that is acquired over time. Time heals all wounds.
“You are capable of more than you know. Choose a goal that seems right for you and strive to be the best, however hard the path. Aim high. Behave honourably. Prepare to be alone at times, and to endure failure. Persist! The world needs all you can give.” – Edward O. Wilson
We must not be scared to be alone and move on; we must realize that it is a normal process of life. We must let go to let something new arrive.
Sincerely,
Adam Charles Seukumar
